Maayan is an independent producer, director, editor and a new media artist. She graduated from the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University in Toronto Canada, specializing in television and new media production. During the past six years, she has completed projects for broadcasters and independent production companies such as: CMT, YTV, Treehouse BravoFact, Paperny films, marble media, SoMedia and more. She is particularly interested in the online space and mobile production while exploring interactivity. From experimental dance documentaries to multi-platform projects, Maayan’s work is pushing the boundries of traditional story-telling.
In 2007 Maayan was selected by Bell New Media as one of Canada’s “10 to watch”; the next generation of emerging talent in the global new media scene. She was also the recipient of the Phyllis Switzer Memorial Award, CHFI – FM 98 Radio Award and NewFoundland Broadcast Award. Her latest project ‘murmur video’ was premiered at the New York Television festival in September 2008 and selected to Nuit Blanche, NSI short film competition and Women in Film Festival 2009
Maayan recently founded ‘Spring Water Media’ (which is the original meaning of her name is Hebrew) in 2008, providing multi-media solutions to media companies and content creators interested in transforming their work into the new media space.
